The past few days have been simple easy mileage runs; six miles Monday and 5.3 today. This weekend I will attempt a 15 mile trail run, slowly but steadily building the base.
Today’s run was quite fun: steady 40 mph winds with gusts up to 60 miles per hour out of the west accompanied me the whole way. Being of reasonably sound mind and not a complete idiot, I ran a 5.3 mile out and back course going south to north, which allowed me to side-step running straight into a mild hurricane on the way back. However, it was quite stunning to find myself fighting to stay upright every time I entered a break in the trees. I am 6’2 188 and I felt as if I would topple over any moment.
Good fun. I kept my pace comfortable and my heart rate 120 or below.
